Lincoln STEM is part of an overall K-12 STEM strategy of building creativity and problem-solving skills in our students beginning at a very early age. Our approach allows students to create and test projects and develop critical skills in the areas of creativity, problem-solving, and communication. Lincoln Elementary is a place to share and grow the work of our students with parents, educators, community, and other stakeholders.
STEM education is active and focuses on a student-centered learning environment. Students engage in questioning, problem solving, collaboration, and hands-on activities while they address real life issues.
Lincoln teachers guide students through the problem-solving process and plan projects that lead to mastery of content and STEM proficiency. Our anchor curriculum is Project Lead the Way – Launch, but we infuse several other tools and resources as well.
STEM proficient students are able to answer complex questions, investigate global issues, and develop creative solutions for challenges and real world problems while applying the rigor of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics content.
NOTE: Lincoln has multi-age classrooms of mixed grades of Kindergarten/1st Grade, 2nd Grade/3rd Grade, and 4th Grade/5th Grade.
Your K-5 students already have the qualities of great designers and innovators. Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Launch taps into their exploratory nature, engages them in learning that feels like play, and encourages them to keep discovering – now and for years to come.
Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.
In its simplest conception, Integrated Curriculum is about making connections. This approach has the potential to act as a bridge to increased student achievement and engaging, relevant curriculum.
